Cal-mag

What it is

A supplement of calcium (ca) and magnesium (mg), almost always with a little iron. These are nutrients the plant needs in smaller amounts than n-p-k but that, when missing, show a lot.

When it is needed

With very soft water, from rain or osmosis (they hardly have any minerals).

In coco fiber, which holds back calcium.

With LED lamps: the plant transpires differently and asks for more calcium and magnesium.

After waterlogging or with a pH out of range, which block them.

How to use

In the watering water, before the rest of the fertilizer, adjusting pH afterward. If the deficiency is severe, magnesium sprayed on the leaves (epsom salt) works faster.

▲ Pros

  • One dose cures calcium or magnesium deficiency

▼ Cons

  • If it doesn't have the deficiency, it uses up the dose just to protect it

🎮 Practice it in UnderGrow

It's not food and doesn't raise the nutrients bar: it's the remedy for a calcium or magnesium deficiency, a separate problem that can show up even if the bar is fine (more often after a waterlogging, with stress or with high pH). When the warning shows it, tap the plant › feed › cal-mag: a single dose cures it and protects it for 10 days (10 real h). If the plant doesn't have the deficiency, the dose only protects it for 10 days.
