Colloidal silver

What it is

Water with very fine silver particles in suspension. Sprayed on a female, it blocks ethylene, the hormone that tells the plant to make female flowers. Without that signal, the female makes male flowers in the sprayed areas.

What it's for

To make feminized seeds. The pollen of that "reversed" female only carries female genes: the seeds it produces come out almost all female. That's how the feminized seeds sold by seed banks are made.

How to use

You start before switching to flowering or in the first days, and spray every day or every other day for 2 to 3 weeks, until the pollen sacs appear. You can spray the whole plant or just one branch, leaving the rest to harvest. Sprayed parts aren't for consumption.

Watch out

A plant prone to turning hermaphrodite passes that tendency on to its seeds: pick a stable, healthy female.

▲ Pros

  • All-female seeds
  • You use a plant you already know

▼ Cons

  • That plant can no longer be harvested

🎮 Practice it in UnderGrow

You spray a female 3 times, one every 3 to 7 days (3 to 7 real h), from pre-flower until the first days of flowering (if more than 7 days go by, it's cut off). 10 days after the last spray it releases feminized pollen (3 doses) and that plant can no longer be harvested.
