What they are
Packs with a salt and water solution inside, in a membrane that lets moisture through: if there is too much moisture in the container, they absorb it; if there is too little, they give it back. This keeps the air in the container at a fixed value, usually 58 or 62 %, which is the ideal humidity for storing buds. They are also used for cigars.
What they are for
So the container doesn't get moldy even if you don't open it, and so the buds don't dry out over time. They are ideal for long-term storage.
How to use them
One per container (in big ones, one every so many grams depending on the brand). When they get hard and dry, they are spent and you replace them. They don't replace good drying: if the bud goes in too wet, the pack can't keep up.
The catch
They hold the humidity, but they don't refresh the air: that's why many people still open the jar every now and then. A pack plus opening is the best combination.
▲ Pros
- The jar doesn't get moldy
▼ Cons
- Cures a bit slower
- They get used up
🎮 Practice it in UnderGrow
You buy them in the shop and they go touching the container in the drying room: one per kilo (a small jar takes one). With a pack the container no longer gets moldy, but it cures a bit slower. It lasts 45 days, and opening the container with the pack inside wears it out faster.
