What it is
A female plant that grows male flowers. Cannabis has male and female plants, but under heavy stress a female can "secure" offspring by making its own pollen. That pollen fertilizes its flowers and the ones next to it.
How to tell
Green balls (closed male flowers) appear among the buds or, more commonly in late flowering, elongated yellow pieces like little bananas: these are open male flowers and can already release pollen.
Why it happens
Stress: light leaks at night, schedule changes, strong heat, severe pruning or damage, pests. And genetics: some strains are more prone to it.
What to do
Remove the male flowers with tweezers, careful not to shake the plant, and check every day because they often come back. If there are many, it's best to move the plant away from the others. If it releases pollen, the buds fill with seeds: they weigh less, yield less and are worth much less.
▲ Pros
- If you fix it early it hardly shows at harvest
▼ Cons
- Unfixed it lowers grams and quality
🎮 Practice it in UnderGrow
Shows up in flowering, especially with a stressed plant: with the stress bar over 50 %, the chance is 20 times higher. You remove it with prune › remove the male flowers, and it can come back: check it with the lens often. You have 1 real h (24 game h) from when you see them: if you remove them in time, the harvest doesn't come out with seeds; past that, it comes out with seeds and is worth less.
