What it is

A tray with a clear dome (a mini greenhouse) where rooted clones wait before going to their pot. Humidity builds up inside and the clones, which still have few roots, do not dry out.

Why they are so fragile

A clone has adult leaves but a tiny root: it loses water through its leaves faster than it takes it in. In dry air it wilts in hours. In heat it rots. And with too much humidity "damping off" shows up: a fungus that rots the stem at the cube and knocks the clone over.

What they need

High humidity (70 to 85 %), 22 to 26 °C, soft light with 18 hours of light (with 12 hours they get confused and start flowering) and misting with water several times a day. The dome is opened a little every day to let air in.

How long they last

In the peat or rockwool cube, two or three weeks. After that the roots come out of the cube, run out of room and food and the clone turns yellow: it has to go to its pot.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the dome closed without airing it (mold and damping off). Putting the tray near flowering plants: the humidity clones need invites mold on the buds. Putting in a clone with bugs: the pest spreads to the whole tray.

▲ Pros

  • They last up to 21 days
  • 60 clones fit

▼ Cons

  • Any slip kills them
  • They clash with breeding: the room's light and humidity

🎮 Practice it in UnderGrow

It is used in the breeding room: tap the tray in installed. 60 clones fit and they last up to 21 days (21 real hours) instead of 5. They die if the room's humidity drops below 68 % (you need a humidifier at 70 or 75 % humidity), if the temperature leaves 22 to 26 °C (above 28 °C, they rot), with the light on 12/12, if you do not mist them every 12 h (25 % of the clones die each time), from stem rot (more with over 85 % humidity) and from the pests they bring, which also infect the room's plants. The room has one light and one climate: breeding photoperiods needs 12/12, and flowering plants suffer the high humidity. With autoflowers you can do it all together. They are planted by tapping an empty spot › tray.
